Alliances, Research & Advocacy

While implementing programs for children in a global south country, Butterflies NGO has also fostered a renewed and reinvigorated spirit of cooperation and collaboration across other grassroots organizations and alliances working for the rights of marginalized children in global south countries. Butterflies NGO is a member of Family for Every Child (FFEC) a global alliance of local grassroots civil society organizations from 37 countries.

Butterflies convened the Delhi Child Rights Club (DCRC) a forum of, by and for children and the National Alliance of Grassroots NGOs (NAGN), which enabled each grassroots organization in different regions in India to harness their collective strength and together become a potent force for children, multiplying their outcomes, sharing knowledge, implementing collective programs for and with children.

NAGN, DCRC IACN and FFEC alliances make collective action programs, research, advocacy and campaigns for children’s rights all the more strong.

To inform practice, Butterflies conducts research, sometimes with grassroots NGOs in other Sexual Abuse of Boys and countries, for example Breaking the Silence: Sexual Violence Against Boys in India and Children in Conflict with the Law. The hallmark of Butterflies research is that it’s based on extensive in-depth, anonymized interviews with youths themselves, not just with usual actors such as social workers, psychologists, and the police.
