In October 2022, Butterflies NGO hosted several mental health programs to teach children self-care techniques to support their well-being.
Positive Parenting
In order to build positive social norms for caring and protecting children and preventing sexual violence against boys, a training on Gender and Masculinity was organised for parents. Parents were sensitized on gender, masculinity, sexual violence against boys and its impact on their lives. The interactive training focused on the education of the child, their future and the microsystem, while highlighting the different roles and responsibilities a family expects from their children depending on the gender of the child. The training concluded with an awareness session on Child Sexual Abuse (among boys too) and positive parenting.
World Mental Health Day
World Mental Health Day was observed by children at their contact points on October 10, 2022. Different activities like meditation, laughter therapy, games and painting were organized to spread awareness on the importance of caring for one’s mental health and emotional well-being. Using their paintings children also sensitized shop owners and community members on this issue.
